ReelAid: Helping Others Help Others
ReelAid and Paul Dano Forge A Journey Home
Sahaya Int’l and Reelaid.org have teamed together once again to produce A Journey Home, a film about fate, reconciliation and courage.
The project is narrated by Golden Globe nominee, Paul Dano (The Batman, The Fablemans) and chronicles the courageous efforts of the Sahaya Vietnam Non-Profit team, led by unlikely heroes as they build micro-homes for hundreds of rural families who would otherwise struggle without shelter, basic hygiene and the ability to fend off of disease. They also educate the children of the community.
Forced to flee Vietnam as a child, Chung Truong went on to create a beautiful life and family in the US. But as career and family was settling in, an emptiness overtook him, eventually leading him back to the country he barely remembered but ran deep in his blood. There, with a band of courageous nuns and some unlikely, tough-as-nails volunteers, he built a house for an impoverished family. Then another. Soon there were hundreds... Schools would follow. But the best was yet to come.
ReelAid & The Victorino Noval Foundation
ReelAid will collaborate with The Victorino Noval Foundation, originally formed by his grandchildren, Franco Hunter and Jake Noval. The foundation supports films of conscience and has also committed support for Actor/Director/Producer James Franco's on-going backing of NYU and UCLA film student projects.
Jeremy Irons, Enya & Sahaya - Going Beyond
ReelAid founder Andy Lauer teamed up with Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons on ReelAid.org latest video Sahaya - Going Beyond. The film highlights a boy, a widow and a dying man whose lives are suddenly touched by a unique non profit (Sayaha International) as it joins forces with communities in rural India affected by HIV/AIDS. Music artist Enya contributed her song May It Be to the soundtrack.
ReelAid.org also agreed to make a short film promoting one of Mr. Iron's favorite charities, The Prison Phoenix Trust, which brings Yoga and meditation to prisoners in the United Kingdom.
